I've written about 8 or 9 streaming music players in the past six years, and considering how quickly client-side technology changes, I figure I'll have to write a few more before all browsers start fully supporting HTML5. But in the meantime, while researching how to develop a streaming player using OSMF, I stumbled upon SoundManager 2, a JS solution that promises to keep things simple. To my delight, Scott Schiller's JS solution works beautifully, and within 40 minutes, I had a fully customizable player using only HTML, CSS, and jQuery. SoundManger 2 makes it easy to install, customize, and implement. Best of all, it works perfectly well on iPhone/iPad versions of Safari. If any of you are looking for an easy way to stream audio, I highly suggest giving SoundManger2 a try.
